Track progress and resolve a pending step
Find the active signer and understand the unfinished step in a request.

Track the request as one response moving through its required actions. Find the active signer and the unfinished task before deciding who needs a follow-up.
Open the request
Open the form's Responses view and locate the intended response using its reference, respondent or date. Check that it is the same request the signer opened. Two similar requests can have different recipients, answers and completion states.
Inspect the status and available activity details. Distinguish the initial submission from full signing completion: the requester may have finished while a manager or another required role still needs to act.
Check the active task
- Identify the stage or signer still waiting for action.
- Review that role's actual email address for this response.
- Check whether an invitation was configured and whether the signer has the appropriate link.
- Check required signatures and any role-specific questions that remain incomplete.
- Review conditional or optional behavior when a role was included or skipped unexpectedly.
An email being sent or received does not prove that the person signed. Likewise, a signature from one member of a parallel group does not necessarily complete the group. Inspect the remaining required actions.
Follow up with the right person
Use the supported follow-up or request controls for the existing response. Confirm the recipient and task before sending another invitation. If the address is wrong, review the owner's available correction options and the record before starting a replacement request.
For a signer who cannot open the link, use invitation troubleshooting. For a request stuck after signing, check workflow troubleshooting, including requiredness and skipped optional steps.
Confirm the final result
After the last required action, inspect the completed response and signed PDF. Check the configured Drive record and emailed copy when they are part of your process.
Keep the response reference with your follow-up notes so the team can find the same record. Avoid treating a manual status update as evidence that missing signatures were captured. If the record and displayed state disagree, contact support with the form, response reference and observed symptom rather than sending sensitive answer contents in the first message.
