Quick Answer

How do I save signed documents to Google Drive?

Open the form's SIGNED PDF tab and click Save to Google Drive. Choose Create a new folder in your drive or Choose existing folder from drive, click Next, choose which pages to save, and click Proceed. Allow access when Google asks. Folders must be in My Drive, not a shared drive.

Formesign keeps your signed documents in the SIGNED PDF tab. Connect Google Drive to also keep a copy in a folder your team already uses.

Connect a folder

Open Save to Google Drive

Open the SIGNED PDF tab and click Save to Google Drive at the top right.

Choose where to save

Create a new folder in your drive makes one named after your form. Choose existing folder from drive lets you pick your own. Click Next.

1 Choose a new or existing folder, then 2 Next.

Choose the pages

Save Entire form response saves the whole document. Each section of your form has its own option too, if you only need part of it. Click Proceed.

1 Save the entire response or chosen sections, then 2 Proceed.

Allow access

Google opens a pop-up asking for permission. Allow it, using the account that should own the folder. You'll then see You're all set.

From now on, new submissions save automatically.

Check it works

Submit and complete a practice request, then find the file in your folder. An active connection doesn't by itself prove that a response was saved.

Existing documents aren't saved

Only new submissions save to Drive. Documents signed before you connected the folder stay in the SIGNED PDF tab, so download any you also need in Drive.

Where your files go

If you chose a new folder, Formesign creates this in My Drive:

Equipment request form
โ””โ”€โ”€ Equipment request form - Signed Documents
    โ””โ”€โ”€ PF000002 - Jordan Example - 60c40d7fโ€ฆ - Signed Document.pdf

A file saves when every signer has finished, and it has the same name as in the SIGNED PDF tab. A new file's owner in Drive shows as editor@formfacade.com, the account Formesign saves through. It appears in your folder, and you can open it as normal.

See what's been saved

Each card on the SIGNED PDF tab shows its Drive status.

1 A green cloud means this document is in Drive. 2 An orange icon means it isn't, as with this older document. While signatures are pending, you'll see a crossed-out cloud.

An error naming editor@formfacade.com as blockedFormesign saves through this account. Your organization has blocked it, so show the error to your Workspace administrator

Don't loosen sharing to fix an error

Give your administrator the exact message rather than changing your organization's sharing settings.

Change or stop saving

Click Save to Google Drive again on a connected form.

1 Open or change the folder, 2 stop saving, or 3 change which pages are saved.
  • Change the location: this applies to future responses. Files already saved stay where they are.
  • Edit pages: choose which pages are saved from now on.
  • Stop saving: new submissions no longer go to Drive. Existing files aren't deleted.

Who can see the files

Google Drive controls access to saved files. Everyone who can open the folder can open the documents in it. Formesign collaborators don't automatically get access, and folder members don't get access to your form.
